Embrace Clinic - Medical Care for Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence and Interpersonal Violence

Free and confidential medical care for survivors of violence who are 12 years of age and older, of any gender.
The Embrace Clinic is part of the Forensic Nursing Service at Surrey Memorial Hospital and Abbotsford Regional Hospital. Embrace Clinic is a speciality medical clinic for survivors of recent interpersonal violence (sexual assault, partner violence, family violence, trafficking, exploitation, etc) and who are seeking trauma-informed medical care in relation to the violence. The clinic welcomes all mature minors and adults of all genders who have experienced recent interpersonal violence and who are seeking trauma-informed medical care in relation to the violence. Self referral or by professional with consent of the patient. Services include:
  • Follow up with general medical concerns
  • Pap & STI Testing
  • Pregnancy Testing and options
  • Rapid HIV Testing
  • Vaccinations and prescriptions as needed
  • Connection with community resources
  • Limited forensic assessment
  • Emergency Contraception
  • Assistance with mental health and sleep following recent trauma
  • Minor wound care and medical care of injuries (ie. sprains, strains, suture removal)
  • IUD insertion
  • Medical abortions (under 9 weeks)

    For self-referrals, call 1-855-775-7223 to talk with a nurse practitioner or to book a confidential appointment.

    The Embrace Clinic provides priority, episodic specialty forensic-medical care for victims of recent violence in an outpatient setting. Same day and next business day appointments are usually available for these patients. Weekdays, day time only.

The Embrace Clinic also offers specialty Sexual Health Services available for any person:
  • Pap tests (cervical cancer screening) - online booking only.
  • Emergency contraception including IUD insertions
  • Pregnancy testing and option services
  • IUD and Contraceptive Implant insertions
  • STI screening and treatment for known positive cases and their contacts
